Officials at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) invite everyone to attend a dedication ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, for the new lecture room in Looney Hall, 128 Garfield Ave., in West Plains.
The room will be named in honor of long-time local physician Dr. Marvin L. Fowler.
University officials noted Fowler and his late wife, Bettye, have supported the nursing program for many years through gifts toward scholarships and the university’s first endowed professorship, the Donna Jones Endowed Professorship of Nursing.
He also served on the university’s Development Board – twice as its president, and is a member of the Friends of the Garnett Library and a charter member of the Grizzly Booster Club.
Fowler is a member of The Founders Club at Missouri State University and received a President’s Medallion in 2022.
He also received MSU-WP’s Granvil Vaughan Founder’s Award in 2018. Named in honor campus founder the late Missouri State Rep. Granvil Vaughan, the award recognizes individuals who have made a significant impact upon the mission of MSU-WP.
For more information about the ceremony, call 417-255-7240 or email WPAdvancement@MissouriState.edu.
